Is there a market for Video Game tourism? I’m imagining less the idea of having video-game attractions (a Sonic The Hedgehog ride on your Florida Holidays ) than video-games as a passive impetus for travelling to a destination. It seems a strange idea until you consider that films and books have managed to do this for a while: what about Austrian Sound of Music tours for a popular example.
As games increasingly come to be associated with and based on real-world locations, people are exposed to and often invited inside significant landmarks. This digital experience isn’t a replacement for travelling to these locations by any means. In fact, the fact of the matter is that any one media text creates interest in countless other texts and real-world objects, people and locations.
For an example of this in action: Rolling Stones records saw a significant spike in November sales. Why? Because of the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops. COD:BLOPS featured the Stones’ 1968 hit song Sympathy for the Devil as background music to an action sequence and to accompanying advertising. The game was clearly successful at reintroducing the song to an audience (who may have been too young to recognise it). Is it not possible that at the very least, games have the power to do the same with travel destinations??
And there is even a little evidence that this is already happening. Take for instance the video ‘Deus Ex IRL’ where a man on his New York Holidays , with the music of 2000 title Deus Ex, a game which contained maps designed after Liberty Island and Battery Park. Clearly the tourist pull of these landmarks is far beyond the powers of the game, but it is simply interesting that there are fans out there making these kind of associations at all.
However, the biggest problem facing the idea of the ‘video game holiday’ is the themes of video games that would inspire such trips. At the extreme end of the scale, it’s unlikely that gamers are influence to go on non-post-apocalyptic Washington DC or Las Vegas Holidays because of a Fallout game. Until games start treating the locations with a little more respect, perhaps the mainstream appeal of the ‘video game tourism’ concept won’t be realised.

If your wife or girlfriend loves fashion then you may be considering buying her clothes as a gift this Christmas. However, many men just don’t know where to start when it comes to buying clothes for women. This doesn’t mean to say you shouldn’t buy her clothes; all you need to do is carefully consider a few things before you decide to splash out and hopefully you’ll come up with something she loves. Getting the choice right will make the woman in your life happy – not just because she has something new to wear but also because it shows that you have really thought about her, her personal style and her personal tastes.
The first thing that you can do to help you work out what might be a good choice of clothing for your wife or girlfriend is to carefully study and analyze her taste in clothes. Does she love jeans? Does she like to change her look with coats or jackets? Is she more of a dress and skirt type of girl than a jeans and t-shirt girl? Try to work out the things she loves and then build on this theme. Finding an item of clothing that is similar to something she loves and wears a lot could be a good choice, particularly if you can find it in a designer label or a range of clothing that she would normally only consider for special occasions. Avoid choosing something that you like – it’s about her – and she may think you are trying to change her if you pick out a girly, feminine dress when she is more at home in skinny jeans and rock band t-shirts.
It’s important to try to find out her size as buying her anything way too small or way too large could cause offence. Try sneaking a peek at the labels in her clothes but be aware that some women take different sizes in their skirts and trouser than they do for their top half. Remember to hold on to the receipts so that your wife or girlfriend can exchange the item if it does not fit her.
Avoid lingerie or overtly sexy items unless you are 100% sure your wife or girlfriend will find them fun. Some women may feel that you are indicating that you are not happy with her as she is if you choose sexy clothing or lingerie.
Think about the kinds of color your wife or girlfriend likes to wear and what items of clothing you think she looks great in. Reds, pinks and oranges can look bad on pale skins and redheads and browns and tan can make brunettes look washed out. Consider her hair color and skin tone and remember that darker skin and hair coloring can generally take stronger colors.

Most kids and teenagers are always locked in their room after school, either playing on their PS3, XBOX or WII. They are either on their computer games or the Internet or listening to music. I haven’t really met a kid or a teen who would like to spend time with their family after school. Either its the kids who go straight to their room after school, if not then the parents tell them to go do their homework and then when they go up they never come down till the dinner is ready. When this happens it grows up them and they spend less and less time with their family on their days off from school and this means the relationship between the parents and the kids can be falling apart.
I did a questionnaire research in my school few months ago asking kids on what they would like to do on their holidays. Shockingly they admitted they would love to go on cruises with their parents other than doing the same thing over and over again which is visit their relatives. Hey it wasn’t me who said it, it was the kids. Then I asked them where they would like to go? Most of them said they would love to go on a royal Caribbean cruises and some said Holland American line cruises. It is amazing isn’t it, I bet you never thought your kid will come up with that answer. I have certainly realized that kids nowadays are far more intelligent than before.
So parents take your kids on a cruising holiday this summer. This way you can bring your family close together so don’t look at it as a holiday. Spending fun times together is a great way of family bonding. You will also learn a great deal about each other on this trip and this is very important for any family.
