Studying at the university in the U.S.A, I noticed that beside the difference in language, American students had differences that were very obvious to me in one thing: they didn’t let each other copy papers and they didn’t do each other’s assignments. My Russian mentality couldn’t grasp why.
Before I came to the USA and became a Russian wife, life was a little different. Being a fiance in a different country taught me a lot. For instance when I was in Russia and going to school there, it was common for students to whisper the answer to a test question to each other and to pass cheat notes back and forth. It was Russian mentality, I could not imagine my friend not helping me with my physics tests. He was good at it, I was terrible and since we were friends it was not even discussed that he should help me. I, on the other hand, was better in languages, so I wrote a number of compositions and checked quite a few papers for him.
I didn’t even think it was dishonest and I didn’t feel bad doing what we did. I knew that if after graduation he would need to write a cover letter or even a love letter to his girlfriend, I will be always there to help him. The same way I knew he would help me with math or physics.
I didn’t have any friends (the way I define friend) at the U.S. school, but I found that those who claimed to be good friends did not whisper test answers to each other and did not do each others homework.
In those times I did not understand American culture, so I couldn’t understand why friends don’t help friends. Now that I understand more (or at least I like to think so), it makes sense to me. In American culture you have to rely on your own abilities and strength, so if you don’t learn how to write a paper properly, your classmate friends are not going to do it for you later in life. They may for a price or for some type of favor in exchange, but they are not going to do your work for you just because you are their friend. Even if they are really good at what needs to be done.
Russian friendships are based on a lifetime of bonding that never ends. It takes many months or it can take many years for Russians to find a path to friendship, but when they do, they become like a family. A friend is not the same as a drinking or a dinner buddy you meet once a month and discuss a new brand of chips with. A friend is someone who will lend you money when you need it; listen to your problems and let you pour out your soul. A friend is someone who will do anything for you, but who also expects you to be there for them no matter what.
Where you might see many Americans going to a psychologists or psychiatrists, you will not see the same in Russia, because they have friends to talk to and to help them solve their problems.
If you find yourself at the airport without a way home, and your Russian friend has a vehicle, he or she will be happy to help you out and I really mean “happy” when I say it. When we went to Russia for the first time, we needed a ride from the airport to the city where I used to live. I didn’t want to bother anyone and I got Americanized a bit, so we just hired someone to take us home. When my Russian friends, a married couple whom I haven’t seen in person for more than 2 years, found out about it, they got really offended. “Why didn’t you call us?” the guy said. ”You don’t trust us or something?” No, they wouldn’t have accepted any money and I doubt they would even let us pay for gas. They were (and are) just true friends.
Now to compare, my spouse was on a business trip and I needed help fixing a parking light (I wrecked it by accident in our backyard). I called him; he called his friend of 10 years (his best friend by the way) and asked him to come over and take a look. The friend (who was 5 minutes away) came with some red tape and put it on my light bulb (which was not damaged by the way). It took him less than 3 minutes. I (“jokingly”) told him that I don’t have any cash, so I can’t pay him right away. He said: “No worries, when your hubby gets home he can pay me back by taking me out for dinner”. And to my surprise, that’s what happened, so the 20 cents which probably was the cost of the piece of tape and 3 minutes of time cost us 20 bucks.
Once again, I am not judging the Russian way over the American way, but things are certainly different and it may be difficult for people from both cultures to make friends and maintain friendships. Finding a balance takes time and effort, but I believe that it is possible. Don’t push your Russian wife or fiance to make friends, because it is not as easy for her as it may seem and don’t be jealous or suspicious if she calls her friends often and tells you how much she misses them. Time will help her with both.
Headstones of famous people can be found in graveyards and cemeteries around the world, and many of them contain inscriptions written by the deceased. These epitaphs, far from being depressing, often make interesting reading.
Take, for example, the headstone of William Shakespeare, which reads: “Good friend, for Jesus’ sake forbear, To dig the dust enclosed here, Blessed be the man that spares these stones, And cursed be he that moves my bones”.
The reasoning behind this inscription is that he lived in fear of his body being dug up or moved after his death. Fortunately, Shakespeare’s grave, which is in the Holy Trinity Church in the English town of Stratford has remained, as he desired, untouched.
John Keats’s headstone, which is at Protestant Cemetery in Rome, is adorned with the design of a lyre with broken strings, which was added by Keats’s friends Joseph Severn and Charles Brown, and contains no mention of his name. He wanted only the following inscription: “Here lies one whose name was writ in water”.
Severn and Brown later added: “This grave contains all that was mortal of a young English poet who on his death bed in the bitterness of his heart at the malicious power of his enemies desired these words to be engraven on his tomb stone”.
The location of Robin Hood’s grave is at a priory in Kirklees in England has been a place of pilgrimage for centuries. Unfortunately, it is not actually where he was buried! The grave has been moved at least three times.
The original headstone disappeared some time after 1660. A reproduction was made, but this was chipped to pieces by 18th-century canal workers who were convinced that a little bit of Robin Hood’s headstone would cure toothache.
With some research, you will no doubt find that there are a few headstones in cemeteries near you that belong to famous people from yesteryear. Whilst it might not make a great hobby per se, spending a day visiting some of these makes for an interesting and cheap day out.
Alternatively, you can just use Google images, where you will find plenty of pictures of headstones belonging to famous people. Learning what your deceased heroes decided to leave as their final parting message can really add something to way that you think about them.

Online directories are the new white pages; that is what most people are saying at least. As for me, online directories in addition to people finder sites extensively obtainable on the internet these days are more than just simple substitution of ordinary white pages. You can implement a lot more with characteristics suggested by people search engines, especially premium ones, than just lookup phone numbers or addresses. To make it even better, several people search (people search) sites are offering you advanced search with possibilities of finding unrestricted information on somebody.
Advanced people finder, or advanced people search, is created to help you find the most versatile information on the person you are looking for at once. With proper starting information such as the individual’s name and or phone number, you can find a lot of search results and added information about the person in a matter of seconds. You can even do a reverse phone search (phone lookup) and see who the owner of particular phone number is. The process is very rapid and easy; even individuals with no experience doing people searches can implement it, because it is as simple as inserting the person’s name and you are done.
Information you can get from advanced people finder includes last known residence, known spouses or relatives, even criminal records and disclosed financial information. You can easily do background checks on anyone you need, such as new employees or future son in law, just to avoid unwanted things or shocking truth from creating a problem in the future. If the search result is still too general, or if the search produces more than one results, you can easily utilize detailed search parameters to refine the search results and get the right report you need.
You may be thinking about how much this kind of service costs you right now, so let me clear the air by stating that the cost for premium extended people finder is actually very affordable. You can get a an entire, detailed, report on the individual you are doing background checks on for nothing more than $2 — very reasonable for the results you are getting.
My point here is this. Before you give up on any people finder search information site – take a moment to explore a few more. You can contact some of the top experts to help direct you to the best free people finder search engines. If you take some time to follow some advices about people finder search engines then you are most likely to find the person you are trying to locate.
I should probably mention that not all people finder searches are good enough. In fact not all experts recommend the best and most helpful sites. In fact half of them are out to push their own agendas by referring more traffic to their own sites in order to cash in one way or the other. So while I advice taking advice from experts in your quest to find someone free, I also do emphasize that you should be careful as there are most “scammers” roaming the net than there ever were in the history of the world wide web.

The news which narrated how a 64-year-old American citizen was arrested and arraigned in the second week of October, 2009 in Hollywood, Florida, for allegedly coming to the Philippines in 2007 and 2008 to engage in illicit sex with two Filipino girls, should give a strong message that the Philippine government will hunt the culprits no matter where they are.
The admirable international cooperation between Philippine and US law enforcement agencies made possible this arrest and should serve as a warning.
A report from the US Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of Florida identified the offender as Donald Mathias, a native of Florida. He is facing charges of child abuse. The charges contained in the complaint carry a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
According to the affidavit filed in support of the complaint, Mathias arranged with the mother of two minor female children in the Philippines to travel to that country in April 2007 and December 2007 to engage in sexual conduct with the minors, and then did so.
Mathias also arranged to travel to the Philippines in December 2008 to again engage in sexual conduct with the minors. Philippine authorities, however, received information about the arrangements and rescued the children before they met Mathias.
In an interview with the Women and Children focal person at the Tacloban City Social Welfare and Development Office, she confirmed about the arraignment saying that it was Fiscal Liza Miscala of the local Family Court who was emailed by her counterpart in the US about the arraignment.
Philippine authorities arrested the victims’ mother in Tacloban City in December while she and all three of her daughters, aged 9 to 14, were on their way to meet Mathias.
The two elder sisters told police that Mathias previously abused them and they were on their way to meet him again.
The victims’ mother, whose name is being withheld for obvious reasons, was charged with child abuse and trafficking of persons. She is now being detained and prosecuted in Tacloban City. When reached and told about this news, the mother refused to be interviewed saying she would rather keep quiet.
The three girls are now under the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Haven for Women and Girls in Leyte.
Ms. Bastes said that the arrest of Mathias and the girls’ mother resulted from a tip from a concerned citizen who, with the assistance of the non-government PLAN Philippines, reported the case to the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
The Social Worker said that the girls and their mother are not really from Tacloban but from Sogod, Southern Leyte. They were arrested in Tacloban, though.
The authorities then coordinated with the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement Unit at the US embassy in Manila in pursuing the case against Mathias.
Ms. Bastes intimated that the children and a social worker are scheduled to leave for Florida to testify against the suspect.

One of the most nerve-racking days in South Korea just passed. Nearly 700,000 high school students took the national college entrance exam. This is no minor thing. The yearly test determines a student’s potential. There is so much importance placed on the exam that planes can’t even take to the air near the test site, and the workday begins 60 minutes later so students can get to the testing center ontime.
Police officers even escort girls toward their school. There are 1,100 test locations throughout the country. Many parents accompany their children to the test and cheerthem while others stay outside and observe their students taking the test. Students even come prepared with water bottles and seat cushions.
Students train for this test their whole life. One student revealed that they studied six hours a day outside of school in order to prepare. The tension is high because that’s what colleges look at. One student said “It’s all going to be changed by this.”
The stress gets so high for some students that they end up committing suicide. For those that have decided to take the test and used up a large part of their time studying have parents and grandparents praying at Buddhist temples in Seoul and all through the country. Parents pray their child’s college placement exams will turn out well and the scores will be great. Some parents have been praying for this in excess of 100 days.
A students future careers and ultimately their existence comes down to one test in one single day. But since the country does give emphasis to education 83 percent of high school grads go to universities. But in order to get to a university they have to do well on the nine hour long test.
The stress and pressure placed on these kids is enormous. A child’s opportunity shouldn’t depend on one day and one test. Plus the fact that many kids don’t test well. It goes back to the fact that people understand and test differently. Some do good on tests while others do better on interviews or projects. The government ought to give students more of a chance to show that they can be do well in life without this one test.
Even though their graduation rates are high, and their college attendance is high students still need to be able to have a life. They need to waste time with friends socializing, playing sports, and spending time with relations. Not everything can be learned in the classroom. They need to experience high school and College because for many of us that was the best time of our life.
There is way too much pressure positioned on these South Korean students. The U.S. also has a valuable test but there isn’t as much nervous tension involved. While the ACT or SAT in America are the big test they don’t determine your future. They give a background to present what you have learned. However students can go on to college and live a triumphant life with the value of hard work and even if you have low scores many still get into college.
Education is terribly important but many Americans go on to college, open their own businesses, and lead successful lives even if they didn’t score well on the test. While the American system needs a lot of improvement, the South Koreans need to calm down a little bit. There is no way one test can conclude the aptitude or worth of a student.

Unless one is living on another planet, one would have most likely sensed that our world is changing fast, or could change due to some the 2012 prophecies we’re all hearing about lately.
If you have been following my articles, you will know that I, on occassion, receive messages of a spiritual nature. Much of my dreams and visions had foretold private and some world level occurrences.
The following is a component of a messaged dream I had in Sep 2005:
“In the dream, a big leopard appeared and moved towards me. He was a n extremely awe-inspiring beast with an almost human aura about him that exuded a raw strong presence. He appeared to have a marginally coloured glow and his bright eyes shined through blue pupils. He started chatting to me. He announced “Meditating and trying to get enlightened isn’t enough. We must upgrade our bodies. There are 2 periods in this planet’s history that need us to upgrade our bodies’; now and in the Year 1750. “At that moment, I was thinking to myself; Am I not doing enough? He appeared to convey the following message to me..Yes, you aren’t doing enough and THIS IS THE HINT. He did not say it in a putting-you-down manner but rather in a calm, spiritual way. “
Dreams are typically symbological illustration of certain issues and occurrences. The leopard ( in the dream ) is representative of a spiritual aspect.
Much of what was being conveyed in the dream pertains to my own private self-growth. But there’s also an universal message being conveyed here…
I suspect that the Year 1750 mentioned in the dream won’t be of the past, but may refer to a future timeline. It might be referring to the year 1750 of a NEW future age. When this new era will start is however unknown to me. But this dream does appears to coincide with certain prophecies.
If you have been following traditional 2012 prophecies, you will know that many ancient cultures foretold of a new golden time. The Mayan said that the end of our era is in the year 2012 and is foretold of the 2012 prophecy. Tibetans have a prophecies called the Kalachakra prophecy which also states that we are getting close to a new age.
Dear Reader, I will like to ask of you to temporarily postpone any skepticism…to embrace my article with an open mind.
The world around you is chaotic now. People are starving, the economy is slowly declining, there are threats of war, new sicknesses and the weather has been more intense then it has been in several years.
Be in the know about 2012 and prepare yourself for each possible situation that might happen. If nothing occurs, great! But what if it does and this was your alert to prepare?
These are, sadly, doubtful times, and what is seen here’s a opportunity to anticipate what truly the Mayans had seen in their visions. And why did the calendar suddenly stop foretelling in A December 2012 prophecy?
Could there be a validity to the dream message? Could it be that we are really about to enter a new time that may transform us mentally, physically and emotionally as well? What does your instinct tell you?
Nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, the University of Colorado is the flagship University of the State of Colorado. The University has produced 4 Nobel laureates, scores of members of prestigious academies, and boasts a fine journalism school, which has produced many international journalists.
School openings just days away, and the campus is already taking special precautions to prevent the spread of the H1N1, swine flu. But tonight, Monday, it is still a few short days before the start of school, and the campus has lent out one of its lecture halls to a rather secretive yet prestigious meeting that had drawn VIPs from as far away as Minnesota. It was rumored, though not proven, that the keynote speaker for this event was Nikki Schwab, a young and upcoming reporter for the prestigious Nation & World section of the US News and World Report.
For Sam Tlecani, Director and chief driver of Pyramids Limo of Denver, a Denver Limo , and Denver Limousine service,
this was another limousine service fare. Earlier in the day, Sam received a call from the staff at the Deluxe Omni Hotel in Broomfield, Colorado. Broomfield, Co. is a bustling metropolitan area, 20 miles North of Denver City, and conveniently located between Denver International Airport, to the Southeast, and Boulder Colorado, to the Northwest. The city serves as a perfect stopping off point for visitors to the state traveling to and fro points north of Denver. It’s convenient distance from the airport means the possibility of bedding down early in the evening, after arriving at the airport, on a late flight. Its selection of fine hotels and restaurants, allows tourists to begin the luxury of a Colorado vacation from the first night. And Broomfield is situated in the foot hills of the Rocky Mountains so people coming to enjoy a ski weekend or summer vacation in the mountains get their first breath-taking view of the majestic mountain range, while still in Broomfield. And for people in the state on business, it’s an opportunity to visit the state without missing at least one glimpse of the mountains.
The party of four Sam was meeting this evening, were a grojup of VIPs who had traveled in from the state of Minnesota specifically to attend an evening conference being hosted at the University of Colorado at Boulder. A stay at the Omni Hotel,in Broomfield, was both close and convenient. Sam chose a SUV for this fare because a party of 4 is slightly too large for the town car. With its roomy seating and large interior, the SUV provides the ideal ride for a group of 4-5. Sam is a favorite at the OMNI hotel, and they frequently call him to take guests to destinations in and around the state. Tonight’s ride was a short hop up to Boulder from the hotel. The guests arrived in plenty of time and made arrangements to be picked up after the talk.
As planned, Sam returned later that evening to meet the party as they were exiting the talk. Whatever the keynote speaker had talked about inside, remained a mystery to Sam. From the University the party went to the PF Chang Restaurant, in Broomfield. PF Chang is a national chain combining traditional Chinese food with a modern bistro look. The guests were able to enjoy their Chinese cuisine in a dining area guarded by replicas of Terra Cotta warriors, unearthed from the tomb of China’s first emperor.
The guests made their own way back to the nearby hotel, but they must have been pleased with Sam’s service, as they requested that he pick them up the next morning to take them back to Denver International Airport, This was a fare, which is second nature to Pyramids Limo, a major provider of Denver Airport Transportation
As the eventual relaisation that the youth culture changes and trend shock the world one week and dig a hole underground the next, young people are blatantly influenced by the behaviour of their friends and advertising campaigns as well as culture influencing musicians, twitters, television programmes and films. As younger audiences search for an individuality they crave to be affiliated a group or to be associated to stuff they perceive as trendy. Customisable items have therefore become a big hit with youngsters and teenagers, this extends from the standard T-shirts, trends have moved into the realms of hats, cheap jewellery and button badges, each product can be designed with the logos of the most fashionable musicians and fictional characters.
Britains youth like to wear phrases uttered by their favourite personalities because they feel it represents themselves, they are keen to convey a ceraint image of themselves this is as part of teenage rebellion and customisable represent the perfect way to achieve this, whether you are dealing with a introvert or confident individual all young people are influenced by what goes on around them and they possess the idea that by being associated with particular groups will make them appear to be trendier. The mind of a young person is a mysterious one, unpredictability is almost certain, but one aspect which remains predictable is their loyalty to their favourite comedians, film stars, boxers and bands.
Youth culture has also created it’s own identity, one of my friends makes button badges and one of her most popular products is the badge for chavs, this pin badge labels a certain group of young people, the badge is designed to be used by people who consider themselves as part of another group and may be used to label one of their peers as a member of the undesirable chav group. This type of badge may be immoral and may not support the image we would desire from Britains youth but it does highlight the situation we face, my friend is not too bothered though and provided his badges sell why would he be.

The state of Arkansas, also well-known as the Natural State, was originally part of the Louisiana Territory. This zone of property was purchased from the French in 1803. Later on, as states began to form out of this region, Arkansas became part of the Missouri Territory and then became its own region in 1819. It wasn’t until June 15, 1836 that Arkansas became the 25th U.S. state admitted to the union. Nearly 30 years later, Arkansas joined 11 additional states to form the Confederate States of America causing the Civil War. Troops from Arkansas were sent both to the Confederate Army, as well as the Union Army.
Arkansas has had several significant happenings in its history. As the original state to desegregate its school system, the “Little Rock Nine,” the first African Americans allowed to enter Central High School in Arkansas, have become symbols of the Civil Rights Movement in the United States. The state also boasts a number of legendary Americans like Johnny Cash, Maya Angelou, John Grisham and the 42nd President of the United States, Bill Clinton. Arkansas is also the state where Dillard’s department stores and the legendary Wal-Mart franchise were started. The state additionally is the place for the single diamond mine in the United States.
With all this history, Arkansas has developed some pretty rare laws. After years of bewilderment over the pronunciation of the state, ARkanSAW became the approved pronunciation in 1881. It is illegal to mispronounce the name while in the state. Some other Arkansas laws demonstrate the attempt to have power over the uncontrollable, like the law that states the Arkansas River cannot rise higher than the Main Street Bridge in Little Rock. Additionally, dogs are not permitted to yap later than 6 p.m. Ballot vote is additionally an region of control as they have capped the voting time to five minutes.
There are certain truly zany laws too. Such as, it’s prohibited to buy or market blue light bulbs. Why blue? It makes you speculate why a law was passed on the tint of light bulb you can buy. A few laws are doubtless pretty antiquated, for example the law that you cannot walk your cow down the center of Main Street later than 1 p.m. on Sunday. Or, that it is against the law to toot your car horn at any establishment anywhere cold drinks or sandwiches are sold after 9 p.m. Flirtation among men and women on the streets of Little Rock can furthermore result in a 30-day jail term. One Arkansas law, that has to have merely been in existence since 1948 at the latest, involves one of America’s preferred restaurants. It is against the law to suddenly start or stop your automobile at McDonald’s. Might there have been a eruption of accidents in the McDonald’s parking lot in Arkansas?
With the history, fame and distinct landscapes that encompass the state of Arkansas, I imagine they should be able to have some pretty wild and specific laws. Lawyers removing the laws from the record would in all probability cost more than just ignoring the ones that no longer make sense in today’s society.
